Biography
l started my professional singing career as the lead female vocalist for the Rivieria Hotel in Weymouth where l sung in variety shows and had my own mini-cabaret show. Since then l have sung all over Scotland at various events and venues. l was a featured soloist at the Usher Hall alongside Kerry Ellis, Jai McDowell, Lorna Luft, Joe McEldery, Clark Stewart and Nathan James as part of 'A night of movies and musicals'.
l was then given the fantastic opportunity to sing as one of the lead vocalists with Paul Gudgin's 'Razz Big Band' performing at a number of large-scale events, including the Kingdom FM awards, Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the University of Glasgow graduation ball and have continued to perform with them for other events. l regularly sing at Burns suppers, and for the past four years have sung at Jim Leishman's Burns supper at East end park and look forward to performing again this year. I more recently have sung with the band Peyton Place as female vocalist and have recently been appointed as a dep singer for the outstanding wedding band 'Celtic Rouge'.
As a musical theatre performer l have played a variety of leading roles including Grizabella in 'Cats', Elle Woods in 'Legally Blonde the musical', Sandy in 'Grease', The Ghost of Christmas past in 'Scrooge', the Dragon in 'Shrek' and a Diva in 'Priscilla Queen of the Desert', all with Limelight Productions at The Alhambra Theatre in Dunfermline. Other roles include Eva Peron in 'Evita', Nancy in 'Oliver', Calamity in 'Calamity Jane', Millie in 'Thoroughly Modern Millie', Laurie in 'Oklahoma', Ulla in 'The Producers' and many more.
l had the fantastic opportunity to originate the role of Louise Carnegie in 'Carnegie the musical, featuring on the original cast recording and taking part in professional workshops. This led to a publicity concert at The festival theatre' in Edinburgh before progressing to a larger scale concert performance of the show at The Alhambra Theatre in Dunfermline, Andrew Carnegie's birth town..
I have studied voice both in musical theatre & classical contexts and have a BMus degree specialising in Classical voice for which I was awarded a distinction. l am a Lecturer in Voice & course co-ordinator at the Performing Arts Studio Scotland, part of Edinburgh College and Kingston University, London. l have taught students independently as well as freelance teaching work with Limelight Kids where l am also Musical director. Previously, l worked with FAPA (Fife Academy of Performing Arts) as a singing teacher.
